The first step to using Zoom is always to log in to your Zoom account. To do this, open the app and input your Zoom account info or simply access it with your Google Account or any other available option.
Learning Zoom basic functions
With the Zoom app installed and your account logged in, you are ready to start joining meetings, hosting them, and much more. In this section, we explain some basic functions of this powerful app.
Joining a meeting
Learning how to join a Zoom meeting is the most important principle of using the app. To do this, you will be needing a Zoom Meeting Link or ID, usually provided by the person that invites you to the meeting.
To join a Zoom meeting, simply follow these steps, depending on if you have a link or an ID:
- Join a Zoom meeting with a link:
- Click on the link.
- Wait for the Zoom app to open.
- Click Join Meeting.
- Join a Zoom meeting with an ID:
- In the Zoom app, click Join and paste the meeting ID.
- If the meeting has a password, you will also have to input the password.
After joining a particular meeting, you have to allow for your speakers and microphone to share the audio. To do this, hit the Join with Computer Audio option, and then click on the Join with Video option to turn on your camera, or say No if you do not want to join with audio.
Hosting a meeting
If you are responsible for hosting a meeting, you should know how to do this. Hosting a meeting is quite simple, you just have to do the following:
Click on the Host a Meeting option in the top-right corner of the app. Then configure the settings of the meeting like if the meeting requires video or just screen sharing, and any other pertinent option. After editing the settings, you can share the link and meeting ID. You can use either option to share with the people you want to invite, allowing them to join the meeting.
Sharing your screen
When you are in a meeting and want to show something on your screen to the other participants, you can do it with a few simple steps. To do this, simply hit the Share Screen option at the bottom of the menu when in the meeting, and the app will show you your screen. After confirming that it is indeed your screen, click on the screen and hit Share, to successfully share it.
Scheduling a meeting
Zoom allows you not only to create a meeting at a particular moment but also to schedule it beforehand, which is the professional thing to do. To schedule a meeting, you have to do the following:
Hit the Schedule option in the menu, enter the topic, adjust the date and time, and every other important adjustment for the meeting. After configuring every adjustment, hit the Schedule button, and the meeting will be created. To share the link and ID, hit the Meetings category at the top of the screen, look for the meeting, and hit on Copy Invitation, to share the info for the meeting.
